Winter plans for the Lancashire playing squad
What are the Lancashire players up to over the winter?
Whilst the 2018 season has come to close, we take a look at what the Lancashire playing squad will be getting up to over the winter.
James Anderson and Keaton Jennings will join Jos Buttler out in Sri-Lanka for the upcoming three-match Test series, starting in Colombo on Tuesday 6 November. England play two warm-up fixtures against the Sri Lanka Board President's XI before the first Test.
Liam Livingstone, Matthew Parkinson, Alex Davies and Saqib Mahmood have all been named in the England Lions squad for the tour of the UAE next month. The Lions will play in one four-day 'Test' versus Pakistan A, as well as five A team 'ODIs' and two A Team 'IT20s' against the same opposition.
Meanwhile, Parkinson has been signed by the Melbourne Stars for this year's Big Bash competition and will head straight over to Australia directly from the Lions tour in the UAE. He will miss the Lions tour post-Christmas and will return to Emirates Old Trafford following the conclusion of the BBL.
Brooke Guest, Toby Lester and George Lavelle will all play grade cricket in Australia over the winter, whilst the Academy duo of George Balderson and Jack Morley have both been named in the England Young Lions squad for the first half of the winter which includes domestic training camps in the UK and a 20-day training camp in Bangalore, India.
Stephen Parry will also be heading out to Australia for two spells, based in Sale Victoria, where the Lancashire spinner will be playing and coaching in his time down under.
Livingstone, Richard Gleeson and James Faulkner have all been picked up in the second edition of the T10 Cricket League, based in Sharjah. The 10 day competition starts on November 23 and the Lancashire trio will all play for the Maratha Arabians. Their squad features international players such as Rashid Khan, Alex Hales, Dwayne Bravo, Kamran Akmal, Lasith Malinga. Other than this competition, Gleeson will be training at Emirates Old Trafford throughout the winter.
Faulkner will also play for the Hobart Hurricanes, having signed a new three year contract earlier in the season, in the upcoming 2018-19 BBL|08 Season, as well as his state side, Tasmania.
Lancashire batsman Dane Vilas has returned to South Africa for the winter and has already played for the Dolphins in their domestic season.
The rest of the squad including Haseeb Hameed, Steven Croft, Rob Jones, Josh Bohannon, Danny Lamb, Tom Bailey, Liam Hurt, Graham Onions and Stephen Parry will report back to Emirates Old Trafford in mid-November to start their winter programmes.
