Anderson continues return for Seconds at Chester

Anderson completes 20 overs in testing conditions for bowlers

James Anderson bowled 20 overs for Lancashire Second XI on the opening day of their four-day match versus Durham at Chester Boughton Hall.

Durham won the toss and batted first bat on a hot day, Anderson took the new ball and claimed 1-16 from his opening 15 overs.

The 37-year-old then returned later in the day to take the second new ball, as he bids to prove his fitness ahead of the fourth Specsavers Ashes Test at Emirates Old Trafford next week.

Durham enjoyed a strong day in excellent conditions for batting, closing on 288-4 with half centuries for all of their top three - Angus Robson (51), Cameron Steel (77) and Jack Burnham (50).

Jack Morley (2-29) was the pick of the Lancashire bowlers with Anderson (1-38) and George Balderson (1-51) also claiming a wicket each.
