Anderson returns to action for Seconds at Northern
15 wickets fall on Day One vs Leicestershire
James Anderson stepped up his rehabilitation by bowling nine overs and claiming two wickets on the opening day of Lancashire's Second XI friendly against Leicestershire at Northern CC.
With the Red Rose bowling first, Anderson came on as first change and made the first breakthrough in his second over, Sam Bates (18) feathering one into the gloves of George Lavelle.
However it was another Lancashire quick that would steal the show during the afternoon as George Burrows ripped through the Leicester middle order to claim 6-22.
Anderson came back for his second spell and trapped Ben Mike (19) LBW to finish with figures of 2-23 from nine overs.
Liam Hurt (1-35) and George Balderson (1-32) also took a wicket apiece as Leicestershire were bowled out for 224.
Openers Owais Shah (16) and Haseeb Hameed (29) made a solid start adding 47, but when both departed in the same over, it sparked a collapse.
Lancashire lost five wickets for just two runs, with Alex Evans taking 4-22.
Balderson (6*) and Hurt (8*) saw out the remaining six overs without further loss to close on 65-5, trailing by 159 runs.
Please note, Day Three of this fixture (Thursday 22 August) will have a start time of 1pm.
