Boyce and Lamb star as Lancashire Women defeat Surrey
Lancashire win a thriller at Guildford
Lancashire Women secured their second win in as many days with a thrilling victory one-run victory against Surrey at Guildford on Bank Holiday Monday.
After starting their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign with a win at Hampshire the previous day, Lancashire once again batted first.
Eve Jones (33) and Emma Lamb (23) got their side off to another solid start, but it was Georgie Boyce, playing just her second match for the club, that would star.
Boyce batting at number three, struck 83 from 89 balls, hitting nine fours and a six - with support from Ellie Threlkeld (17) and Danielle Collins (20*).
The Red Rose posted 242-9 from their 50 overs, but Surrey got off to a flying start with the bat.
Their top three of Kirstie White (65), Bryony Smith (86) and Aylish Cranstone (51) all scored half centuries as the home side raced to 196-1.
Following her batting heroics, Boyce then picked up two wickets as the Red Rose fought back.
Lamb also claimed two wickets and held her nerve as the match went down to the final over. With Lancashire defending two off the final ball, Amy Gordon was run out, sparking Red Rose celebrations.
