Celebration evening for the women of Lancashire Cricket

Celebration evening for the women of Lancashire Cricket

Former players to attend Lancashire Thunder match at Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday evening

70 former players will attend Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday for a celebration of the women of Lancashire Cricket.

Players, both past and present, will come together for the Kia Super League clash between Lancashire Thunder and Loughborough Lightning.

Achievements will be recognised before the start of play, with several former players set to be capped for the first time, following their contribution to women’s county cricket for the Red Rose.

Clare Connor, Managing Director of Women’s Cricket for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), will be making the presentation, following which those in attendance will be invited to the 1864 Suite in the Pavilion to watch the current Lancashire crop take to the field.

Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Paul Allott said: “I am really proud and pleased that we have the opportunity to host this celebration event at Emirates Old Trafford.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to welcome, thank and admire our current and former players. We have had some wonderful performances and a proud history in the women's game in Lancashire and quite rightly relish showcasing this.

“I would also like to congratulate those who will receive a commemorative cap, a significant mark of recognition for their commitment to the women's game. Whether you have played one game, or 100 games wearing the Red Rose of Lancashire, you should be proud of that achievement.”
