Day Two rained off at New Road
Leaders Lancashire were denied the chance to build on yesterday’s dominance with the ball as play was washed out on day two of the Specsavers County Championship match with Worcestershire at Blackfinch New Road.
Heavy overnight and morning rain left umpires Rob Bailey and Mark Newell with little option but to abandon play for the day at 1.25pm.
Lancashire had bowled out the home side for 98 in 38.1 overs after an uncontested toss.
England pacemen past and present in Jimmy Anderson and Graham Onions both picked up four wickets under leaden skies in helpful conditions.
Ed Barnard top-scored with 32 for Worcestershire but there was no time for Lancashire to launch their reply before the heavens opened.
Worcestershire will now look to strike back with the ball tomorrow if the weather relents.
