Defeats for Second XI in Notts T20 double header
Lancashire’s Second XI were beaten twice in a T20 double header against Notts at Grantham CC yesterday.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat in the first match, but were on the back foot after losing both openers with the score on just two.
Regular wickets tumbled throughout the innings with Notts seamers Luke Fletcher (2-14), Zak Chappell (2-10) and Jake Ball (3-17) doing the damage.
Only Haseeb Hameed (15) and Toby Lester (17) offered any resistance as Lancashire were bowled out for 70 inside 18 overs.
The home side chased down their target for the loss of one wicket in 10.3 overs with Ben Duckett unbeaten on 43 - Liam Hurt picking up the solitary wicket for the Red Rose.
With Lancashire looking to bounce back in match two, Notts won the toss and chose to have a bat.
Stephen Parry got his side off to a perfect start, dismissing Duckett with the first ball of the game.
Spin would dominate the bowling figures as Tom Hartley (3-20) and Jack Morley (2-19) impressed to restrict the hosts to 145-6 from their 20 overs.
Lancashire made a positive start with the bat, reaching 64-1 with scores for Rob Jones (34), Owais Shah (20) and Haseeb Hameed (16).
However, Kashif Ali’s 4-13 ripped through the middle order and put Notts in control as Lancashire reached 111-8, falling 34 runs short of their target.
