George Burrows signs first professional contract with Lancashire
Young fast bowler signs for Red Rose
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that pace bowler George Burrows has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
20 year-old Burrows, who is currently studying Sociology at Liverpool John Moores University, has played regularly for the Lancashire Second XI over the last couple of seasons and was also selected for the Club’s pre-season tour to Dubai this year.
He is the latest prospect off the Red Rose’s production line, following George Balderson, George Lavelle, Tom Hartley and Jack Morley in signing professional terms over the last six months.
George Burrows commented: “I am over the moon to sign my first professional contract with Lancashire.
“It was an amazing opportunity for me to be able to spend a fortnight in Dubai with the First Team squad for pre-season tour in March and I am looking to build on that now.
“I know that this is a Club that will give young, local players an opportunity so hopefully consistent performances for the Second XI will push my case for First Team selection over the coming months.
"I would also like to thank Dave Roberts, Sam Byrne, Tom Webster and the rest of the Medical Department at Lancashire for all their help and work with me over the last couple of years getting me back to full fitness."
Director of Cricket, Paul Allott, said: “It’s great to see another young player progress through the system and sign his first professional contract here at Emirates Old Trafford.
“George impressed on the tour to Dubai when injuries to senior pace bowlers meant that he played more cricket than expected.
“He has worked really hard on his game over the last few years and I am excited by the progression he continues to show.”
