Guest impresses for South Perth

The 22-year-old has struck back-to-back half centuries for South Perth CC in Western Australia first grade

Lancashire wicketkeeper Brooke Guest has made a solid start to Australia's grade cricket season, notching consecutive half centuries for South Perth CC.

Moving up into the number two slot two games into the One-Day season has proved a profitable move for the right-hander.

In his first game at the top, Guest held his side together by scoring 60 out of a total of 139 against Claremont-Nedlands, with the visitors completing a close chase by two wickets.

He followed it up with another fifty, top-scoring with 59 in the defeat against Fremantle.

The two-day competition begins for Guest's side this weekend, starting with a fixture against Midland-Guildford.

In Sydney, George Lavelle made his seasonal debut for UTS North Sydney in their two-day fixture against Mosman.

Lavelle did not bat as his side racked up 385/5 but did bat in the 50-over Poidevin Trophy a day later, scoring 25 as his side chased down 240 to win with nine balls remaining.
