Hameed hits unbeaten century for Second XI
159* for Hameed on opening day at Leicesteshire
Haseeb Hameed hit an unbeaten 159 as Lancashire's Second XI dominated the opening day of their Championship match away at Leicestershire.
The side included First Team red-ball regulars Hameed, Rob Jones, Tom Bailey and Graham Onions ahead of Sunday's Specsavers County Championship trip to Glamorgan.
Asked to bat first, Hameed and youngster Owais Shah put on 113 for the opening stand before the latter was dismissed for 64.
Danny Lamb joined Hameed in the middle and the pair added another century partnership to the total.
Lamb reached his 50 shortly before Hameed brought up his century from 175 balls, including 11 fours.
By the time Lamb departed for 86, Lancashire had moved to 299-2, with Jones (34) coming out and playing nicely too.
The Red Rose declared on 371-3 following Jones' dismissal, but Hameed remained unbeaten on 159 - an important knock ahead of Sunday's match at Colwyn Bay.
Time was still left in the day for Bailey and Onions to take a wicket apiece, as Leicestershire closed on 28-2, trailing by 343 first innings runs.
