Lancashire beat Worcestershire in the Second XI Trophy
Victory for Lancashire in Second XI Trophy match
Jamie Crawley's half century followed by three Ed Moulton wickets helped Lancashire's Second XI to a 54-run win over Worcestershire at Southport.
After the original 50-over trophy match was abandoned with just 10 balls bowled, due to an unfit pitch, a new 42-over game was started on a different wicket.
Batting first, Lancashire made a positive start through openers George Balderson (20) and Crawley (50).
Following Balderson's departure Brooke Guest (19) and George Lavelle (17) supported Crawley who reached his half century hitting three fours and a six before he was dismissed.
Stephen Parry's 39 and Tom Hartley's unbeaten 31 saw the Red Rose total 209-6 from their 42 overs.
In reply, Worcestershire made a strong start and were 93-1 when Jack Morley (1-24) made a crucial breakthrough that sparked a batting collapse.
Richard Gleeson (1-27), Parry (2-22) and Hartley (2-35) all then claimed wickets as Lancashire took control.
Moulton finished off the Worcestershire innings with wickets down the order, to finish with figures of three for 15, as Derbyshire were bowled out for 155.
Lancashire's Second XI are back in action against Worcestershire today in the Championship at Northern CC.
