Lancashire vs Yorkshire: Remembering a 1996 classic
In a recent social media poll about Lancashire supporters' favourite match at Emirates Old Trafford, this classic was an overwhelming pick
1996; 2015; 2018; 2019; is there anything better than a final ball win over White Rose?
That was the question on Lancashire supporters' minds after the 1996 classic was voted right at the top of a recent social media poll.
Users on Lancashire's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram platforms were asked to name the best match they have ever seen at Emirates Old Trafford.
The 1971 Gillette Cup semi-final was a popular choice, as was the 2005 Ashes Test and, more recently, the 2018 One-Day International between England and Australia.
But a resounding favourite was the 1996 Benson & Hedges semi-final against Yorkshire.
Anchored by a fine innings from Warren Hegg, who survived a boundary catch after Martyn Moxon fell over the rope, it was left to Peter Martin to hit two from the final ball and seal victory on the second day a rain-affected match.
Watch the highlights from Lancashire's innings below and re-live one of the most sensational finishes ever seen at the home of the Red Rose.
