Lancashire Women beaten by Kent

Lancashire Women were beaten by Kent in their penultimate Royal London One-Day Cup game of the season at Newton-le-Willows Cricket Club on Monday.

Kent Women won the toss and elected to field first as Lancashire opened with Eve Jones and Emma Lamb.

Jones (6) was dismissed cheaply with Georgie Boyce, who top scored for the side on Sunday against Sussex, coming in at three.

Lamb played positively hitting four boundaries before being dismissed by Rowson, caught by Beaumont for 33, to leave Lancashire 71/2.

The same Kent combination did for Boyce who went for 20 before Threlkeld went for 13.

SCORECARD

Danielle Collins came in and steadied the ship for Lancashire. She went on to hit four boundaries in an innings from 83 balls, hitting 28.

None of Lancashire lower order made double figures as the hosts were bowled out for 161.

In reply, Tammy Beaumond and Alice Davidson-Richards put on 48 for the first wicket.

Lancashire dismissed both batsman in quick time with Alex Hartley making the first breakthrough before 15 year-old Olivia Thomas struck to leave Kent 48/2.

Fran Wilson came in at three at stabilised the innings. The England all-rounder went on to hit an unbeaten half century as Kent chased down Lancashire’s total with relative ease.

Phoebe Franklin, Maxine Blythin and Laura Marsh all contributed with middle order runs as Kent completed a four wicket win. The visitors also clinched the Championship trophy.

Lancashire Women are back in action on Sunday against Warwickshire before their T20 campaign starts.
