Lancashire Women finish off one-day campaign with victory
Lancashire Women completed their Royal London County Championship campaign with a rain-affected nine wicket victory (DLS) over Warwickshire at the Edgbaston Foundation Ground on Sunday.
The Red Rose side were without the England trio of Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone and Alex Hartley and gave a debut to Anjalie Singh.
Captain Eve Jones won the toss and elected to bowl first and Laura Jackson made an early breakthrough to leave the hosts 5/1 in the second over.
Warwickshire opener Ria Fackrell top scored with an unbeaten 65 in an innings which was interrupted due to the rain in Birmingham.
Emma Lamb took two wickets with Oliva Thomas striking once as Warwickshire posted 148/4 from 39 overs.
Lancashire were set a target on 59 to win from 10 overs after the break in play and openers Emma Lamb (24) and Eve Jones (27*) eased the Red Rose to victory.
Lancashire finish on 80 points in 4th place in the 50 over competition.
