Lancashire's Academy record their first win of the season against Notts
Six wicket win for Lancashire at Ormskirk
Lancashire Cricket Academy claimed a six wicket victory over Nottinghamshire Academy at Ormskirk Cricket Club yesterday.
The visitors batted first, and were bowled out for 184 after 44.1 overs. Chris Gibson, who came in at number four, top scored with 58 runs.
Nottinghamshire’s top order gave them a good start, but the middle and lower order struggled to stay at the crease for long enough to form any real partnerships with Gibson.
With the ball, Rob Lord and Praharsh Parikh led the attack for Lancashire, claiming 4-40 and 3-24 respectively.
The Red Rose chased down their total inside 38 overs. Nick Greenwood top scored with 70 off 73 balls. Greenwood and Kurtis Watson put on 94-run partnership, helping the Red Rose to victory.
Ali Chughtai opened the batting with Jamie Crawley, but struggled to get going and was caught for a duck. Crawley (36) and Ed Fluck then put on a decent partnership before Fluck was caught on 14. Sam Dorsey then came in and scored 12, before Greenwood and Watson finished the job.
Northamptonshire’s bowling attack largely struggled with Lancashire’s top order. Lyndon James was the pick of their bowlers, with figures of 1-21 off his six overs.
Gary Yates’ men will travel to Leek Cricket Club on Thursday for their clash with Staffordshire Development XI.
