Lavelle and Gleeson impress on Day One for Second XI
Lancashire in control following Day One against Worcestershire
George Lavelle hit 65 as Lancashire were bowled out for 226, before Richard Gleeson led the bowling attack as the Red Rose made four early inroads against Worcestershire at Northern CC.
The visitors closed Day One of the Championship match on 36-4, still trailing by 190 runs after Gleeson's impressive spell of three wickets for just eight runs from his 10 overs.
Batting first, Lancashire lost three early wickets before Lavelle and Nick Greenwood (56) put on a stand of 122 as both brought up their half centuries.
After the pair fell in quick succession, Tom Hartley (25) and Ben Gibbon (28) added runs down the order as Lancashire reached 226 all out from their first innings.
With the ball, Gleeson ripped through the Worcestershire top order to reduce them to 27-3, before George Balderson struck with the final ball of the day to leave Worcestershire on 36-4.
