Narrow defeat for the Academy despite Dorsey's unbeaten century
Lancashire beaten by three runs at Notts
Lancashire Cricket Academy lost a high scoring 50-over clash against Nottinghamshire by just three runs at Notts Sports Club.
After skipper Sam Dorsey lost the toss, Lancashire were asked to bowl first and Notts made a strong start with their top four all amongst the runs.
Budinger (51), Martindale (29), Evison (104) and Gibson (102) helped their side to reach 297-2.
However the Lancashire bowlers continued to plug away and Rob Lord (4-68) and Praharsh Parikh (2-38) were both rewarded with wickets towards the back end of the innings.
Notts posted 321-7 and in reply Lancashire made a positive start through opener Ali Chughtai (60) and number three JJ Fielding (29).
When Dorsey came to the crease with the score on 98-2, the Lancashire innings began to motor.
Dorsey, well supported by George Bell (48) and Subhaan Mahmood (23) scored an outstanding, unbeaten 111 from 132 balls including seven fours and a six.
Despite his best efforts Lancashire fell an agonising three runs short of Notts, finishing on 318-5 from their 50 overs.
