Neville Cardus Lunch to be hosted at Emirates Old Trafford
Emirates Old Trafford will once again host the Neville Cardus Lunch which takes place on Wednesday 3 April.
The Lunch is an annual event designed to help keep alive the name of Sir Neville and his writings. It will also help further promote the Archive which is developing strongly. At last year’s lunch we had over 50 people attending to listen to award-winning writer Harry Pearson speaking on his book about Learie Constantine and also his warm appreciation of Cardus.
This year’s Lunch will take place in the Club Suite in the Pavilion at Emirates Old Trafford.
We are delighted to have as our speaker Mike Selvey, former fast-bowler who played for Middlesex and Glamorgan. He took 101 wickets in the 1978 season and was a key part of the Middlesex attack that won the County Championships three times in 1976,1980, and 1982. When he retired he became cricket correspondent of the Guardian newspaper.
The Lunch, at 12 noon for 12.30pm, will be open for anyone to book (£35) although we will be limiting places, so please book early. It will be a three course meal plus coffee, to a special menu.
If you have any dietary requirements, please do get in touch.
We hope to have between 40-50 people, amongst them Patrons of the Archive along with representatives of Lancashire Cricket and the Hallé. There will inevitably be some informal reflections and reminiscences of Neville over the meal, as well as the opportunity to see some of our archival material and to contribute ideas for the Archive’s further development.
