Second XI dominate Day One at Sussex
Lancashire in control following first day at Horsham CC
Lancashire's Second XI bowled Sussex out for 234 before closing on 84-1, following a strong performance on Day One of their friendly with Sussex.
After losing the toss at Horsham CC, the Red Rose were in the field first and made a lightning start through seamer Toby Lester (3-30) who removed all of the Sussex top three with just 31 on the board.
The home side rebuilt with Aneesh Kapil and Delray Rawlins who both scored exactly 50, but they were removed either side of the lunch break by Burrows (1-47) and Parkinson to leave them 158-5.
A flurry of wickets for Lancashire's spin bowlers followed to clean up the innings, Stephen Parry claiming three for 32 and Parkinson three for 76 - a clinical job to dismiss the hosts for 234.
Lancashire made a strong start with the bat through openers Jamie Crawley and Owais Shah, who added 80 for the first wicket before Crawley was dismissed for 41.
The Red Rose ended the opening day on 84-1, Shah (36*) and Danny Lamb (0*) at the crease and trailing by 150 runs.
