Second XI draw with Derbyshire despite frantic final day
Second XI Championship clash drawn at Derbyshire
Lancashire's Second XI Championship match away to Derbyshire ended drawn despite a frantic Day Three at Belper Meadows CC.
After Day One was lost to rain, a couple of sporting declarations on the final day set up a scenario where all three results were possible in the fourth innings.
Lancashire declared on their overnight first innings total of 58-5, still 144 runs behind Derbyshire's 202 all out.
The home side then crashed a quick 125-0 through openers Tyler McGladdery (61*) and Cox (60*), to set Lancashire 270 to win from two and a half sessions.
The Red Rose lost openers Owais Shah and Ed Fluck cheaply, but Danny Lamb (41) and a quick 35 from Jake Lehmann put their side in a good position at 90-2.
Lamb and Lehmann then fell in quick succession but the runs continued to flow through George Lavelle (31) and Stephen Parry.
When Lavelle departed, Lancashire had reached 151-5 but their hopes of a victory started to fade. Tom Hartley (11) and Matt Parkinson (16) were both dismissed trying to add quick runs.
With Lancashire 222-7 the two teams shook hands on a draw, with Parry still there at the end on an unbeaten 37.
