Second XI set for tight final day of Worcestershire clash
Honours even following Day Two at Northern CC
Lancashire closed Day Two of their Second XI Championship match against Worcestershire with a slender second innings lead.
After the visitors resumed on 36-4 and still trailing by 190 runs, Lancashire's lead was reduced by a century from Worcester opening batsman JJ Dell.
Wickets continued to fall around him with Richard Gleeson (4-45), George Balderson (3-49) and Tom Hartley (2-24) leading the Red Rose attack.
By the time Balderson had claimed the final wicket of Ahmed, Dell had carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 131 and hand his side an important 25 run first innings lead.
Lancashire lost their top three cheaply in the final session before George Lavelle (14) and Nick Greenwood, who closed the day unbeaten on 32, moved their side into the lead.
The close of play arrived with the Red Rose 78-4 and holding a lead of 53 runs with Sam Dorsey (7*) and Greenwood looking to push on during the third and final day.
