Stephen Parry awarded new contract and Testimonial Year

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that bowler Stephen Parry has been awarded a Testimonial year in 2020

The long-serving left-arm spinner, who came through Lancashire Cricket’s Academy, has also signed a new one-year deal with the Club, extending his stay until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Parry has appeared in 230 matches for Lancashire since making his debut back in 2007, which came in a first-class match against Durham MCCU. He is the Club’s all-time T20 leading wicket-taker with 117 scalps, over 45 wickets ahead of fellow left-arm spinner Gary Keedy, and has appeared in 116 T20 matches to date, second to only Steven Croft in Lancashire’s all-time appearances in the format.

He finished as the Club’s equal leading wicket-taker in the Lightning’s first Vitality Blast win in 2015, taking 25 wickets, and has been a key component of Lancashire’s T20 side since making his debut in 2009.

The 33-year-old also featured in One-Day Internationals and T20 Internationals for England, earning a Man of the Match award on debut in an ODI against West Indies in 2014. He has two ODI and five T20I appearances to his name.

Stephen Parry said: “It has been an honour to play for the Club and I am truly grateful for being given a Testimonial. To be recognised in this way is very special.

“To have spent my whole career at this great Club, and to have been awarded a Testimonial, is something that I will cherish forever.

“I am also pleased to have extended my contract for another season. I love pulling on the Red Rose and I look forward to contributing to the side for another year. It’s a hugely exciting time to be part of the Club at the moment and as a collective squad, we’re all desperate to win some more silverware for the Red Rose.

“I’ll be working on a number of different events over the course of the year and the dates will be circulated out soon and I look forward to celebrating with everyone.”

Lancashire Cricket Director of Cricket, Paul Allott, said: “Stephen has been a mainstay of this Club for over ten years and we are delighted he has been awarded a Testimonial. It is thoroughly deserved.

“His work ethic and love for Lancashire shines through and he is a fine example to any young players wanting to succeed as a professional cricketer.

“We look forward to supporting the events he puts on and hope all Members and fans of the county will get behind him throughout the year.”
