Winning start to Lancashire Women's T20 campaign
One win before weather intervenes at Keyworth CC
Lancashire Women defeated Kent in a low-scoring affair but the weather intervened for the second match of their T20 double-header at Keyworth CC.
In the first match, Kent won the toss and elected to bat first, but three early Laura Jackson (3-9) wickets and one for Emma Lamb (1-16) reduced them to 14-4.
They rebuilt through opener Maxine Blythin (24) and Tash Farrant (37), but the runs were coming at a slow pace before Natalie Brown (3-17) picked up three wickets at the back end of the innings.
Kent reached 96-8 from their 20 overs but the Red Rose also lost early wickets with Georgie Boyce and Brown both departing early on.
Skipper Eve Jones remained and her and Lamb added 38 for the third wicket to move Lancashire towards victory.
By the time Jones was dismissed for 37, they were nearly home with Lamb there at the end unbeaten on 29 as Lancashire wrapped up a six wicket win in the 19th over.
The second game between Lancashire and Nottinghamshire was due to get underway immediately however the rain arrived before a ball could be bowled and the match was abandoned.
