Winter Player Diary: Brooke Guest
Brooke Guest is Down Under playing Grade Cricket for South Perth CC
I hope that you are all enjoying the off season following a great summer of cricket for the Red Rose and Emirates Old Trafford.
This winter, I am back Down Under in Perth where I am playing for South Perth Cricket Club, who play in the WACA competition which is the First-Grade competition over here. I arrived in early October and was delighted to be given such an important role with the club of captain, wicket keeper and opening batsman.
The WACA competition has a high calibre of player with Australian international Hilton Cartwright amongst my teammates here at South Perth. I have also come up against Australia fast bowler Andrew Tye and opening batsman D’Arcy Short who has also played in the IPL and will play for Surrey in next summer’s Vitality Blast.
With the bat, I have felt in good touch scoring 334 runs at an average of 55, with three half centuries and a 137 to my name. Results haven’t quite gone our way yet, but the lads are working hard for a big push in the second half of the campaign.
Away from match days, I have been making the most of the great training and gym facilities at our home ground Richardson Park and I have also been working hard with the South Perth batting coach to improve certain aspects of my game - all with the focus of enjoying a successful English summer with Lancashire.
I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to updating you on my progress Down Under again in 2020.
