Davies 'proud' after receiving Player of the Year
The wicketkeeper took home the top award for the very first time at the virtual 2020 Player of the Year Awards
Alex Davies is delighted to add his name to some of Red Rose greats after being voted as Player of the Year at the Club's virtual end of season awards.
Davies pipped a number of his Red Rose teammates to the award after finishing as the top run-scorer in both competitions during the two-month season.
And the 26-year-old, a supporter of the Club who rose through the Academy ranks, says he is proud to have added his name among some of the previous winners that include Andrew Flintoff and Muttiah Muralitharan.
"I was saying to the lads when the vote went out online, there's some names on that trophy," Davies said.
"I remember looking at the awards night looking at the trophy and thinking 'it would be nice to get my name on that one year'. It's a big deal for the guys, they want to win it every year.
"I'm over the moon, it's a nice surprise. I would've preferred to win a trophy with the team, especially with getting to Finals Day, but it's nice."
