Ecclestone wins T20 Challenge with Trailblazers
Thunder and England spinner claimed five wickets during the three-team tournament out in the UAE
Sophie Ecclestone helped Trailblazers to their first Women's T20 Challenge title, as they defeated defending champions Supernovas by 16 runs in Sharjah.
Ecclestone took her tournament tally to five wickets from three matches claiming 1-26 and defending 24 from the final over to seal a famous victory.
Beaten finalists Supernovas had previously won both versions of the competition which started in 2018 as the women's equivalent of the Indian Premier League.
The Cheshire-born 21-year-old went into the tournament as the World's No.1 ranked T20I bowler and added to her growing reputation by taking 4-9 in Trailblazers opening match - a crushing nine wicket victory over Velocity.
In the final itself, Trailblazers batted first posting 118-7 courtesy of skipper Smriti Mandhana's 68 and eventually eased to victory with the ball despite former Lancashire Thunder batter Harmanpreet Kaur's 30.
