Jos Buttler blasts England to victory
Lancashire and England man's T20I best 83* sent England into a 2-1 series lead in India
Jos Buttler's brutal 83 not out propelled England to a comfortable eight wicket win and gave them the advantage in their T20I series against India.
In pursuit of the hosts' 156-6 in Ahmedabad, Buttler - at the top of the order - played a peerless knock bringing out his full repertoire of sweeps and reverse sweeps combined with brutal sixes down the ground.
Buttler's new best T20I score came from just 52 balls - including five fours and four sixes - and quickly took the game away from India.
Earlier in the evening, it had looked a difficult track for batting on with Virat Kohli the only Indian batsman to pass 25 - on his way to a superb unbeaten 77 - as Mark Wood (3-31) and Chris Jordan (2-35) shared England's wickets.
However Buttler made his intentions clear with the bat - targeting Yuzvendra Chahal in particular - and building solid partnerships with Jason Roy (9) and Dawid Malan (18).
With England in control, it was left to Buttler and Bairstow (40*) to see their side home to a convincing eight wicket victory with 10 balls remaining.
England can wrap up the series with a win in Thursday's (18 March) fourth T20I.
Tickets are now on general sale for the LV= Insurance Test match between England and India at Emirates Old Trafford on 10-14 September 2021.
