Lancashire announce tour to India

Glen Chapple's side will be based at Reliance Corporate Park for a week-long training camp and match against a Reliance XI

Lancashire’s First XI squad are heading to Mumbai for a week-long, pre-season training camp in preparation for the start of the 2020 season.

A 13-man squad will be based at Reliance Corporate Park between 14-22 February, the home of Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians, and conclude with a T20 fixture.

The squad will be put through an intense training schedule, building upon the work done at Emirates Old Trafford in a warm weather climate.

Having started preparing for the new campaign in November last year, India will be the first opportunity for the squad to train outdoors.

A training-focused camp, the players will continue to work on technical elements of their game before taking on a Reliance XI in a T20 to close the tour on Friday 21 February.

Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson miss out due to their ongoing international commitments with England, while Liam Livingstone and Dane Vilas are not involved due to Pakistan Super League commitments.

Lancashire Head Coach, Glen Chapple, said: “We are excited to get out to India and build upon what we have worked on both collectively and individually. It has been a productive winter so far, but there is no substitute for getting back outside on the grass.

“India is a cricket-mad country and it will be an invaluable experience for the squad, especially for those who haven’t had the opportunity to play in India before.”

Squad to travel to India: Tom Bailey, George Balderson, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Alex Davies, Tom Hartley, Liam Hurt, Rob Jones, Danny Lamb, Toby Lester, Jack Morley, Stephen Parry, Luke Wood
