Lancashire take knee and applaud NHS before Leicestershire match
Lancashire’s cricketers took the knee and applauded the NHS before the start of the Bob Willis Trophy match against Leicestershire at Blackfinch New Road.
The players will show their support ahead of the first day of the 2020 domestic cricket season.
Lancashire captain, Dane Vilas, said: “As a squad, we have taken the decision to support the Black Lives Matter movement and recognise the outstanding work of the NHS and key workers over the last few months.
“In particular, ex-West Indies and Lancashire bowler Michael Holding spoke emotively recently about his personal experiences during the recent Test series and we must do better to eradicate racism.
“Our support does not endorse any political organisation but we are united in our belief of equality and justice, both in cricket and wider society.”
