Lancashire Women help local food banks
Led by captain Kate Cross, the side have been delivering supplies to food banks in their local areas
Lancashire Women have teamed up to help out local food banks with a number of donations during the coronavirus pandemic.
The team, led by captain Kate Cross, gathered food parcels and delivered to charities in their respective local areas, helping them to continue their excellent work during a difficult time for many.
The charities to have benefited from their parcels include Preston, Sandbach and Burnley food banks, as well as The Trussell Trust food bank in St Helen’s.
“Cricket has taken a back seat for the moment but we have stayed connected as a team and been keen to help,” Cross said.
“It was great to have so many of the girls getting involved. We came up with the idea collectively but everyone has bought into it and helped out around the areas where they live across the North West. We felt that it was the least we could do in the current situation.”
Jen Barden, Women and Girls Cricket Manager at Lancashire Cricket, added: “I’m extremely proud of the group for their contributions to the community and willingness to help in what continues to be an unprecedented situation.
“We hope these donations can make a small difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves, and families and individuals who this virus has impacted.”
