Liam Livingstone launches BBL-best 79
The right-hander was at it again, smashing eight sixes en route to a new highest score in the Big Bash League
Liam Livingstone surpassed his Big Bash-best for the second successive innings, smashing 79 against Adelaide Strikers today (Friday 24 January).
He produced another highlight reel performance, smashing seven maximums as he became the sixth batsman to make it past 400 runs in the tournament so far.
His first six was one of the longest of the competition, totalling 106 metres as he stepped down the track to launch Michael Neser into the second tier at Optus Stadium.
He went to fifty in 50 off 37 balls but lacked support from the other end and perished at the start of the 16th over with 67 runs required.
The Scorchers fell to defeat by 16 runs and need to win their final match against Sydney Thunder on Sunday to guarantee a spot in the play-offs.
Fellow Red Rose man James Faulkner also returned to action for Hobart Hurricanes following injury.
The left-armer took 1/18 off three overs in their comfortable win over the Thunder, lifting them into fifth position ahead of their final game against the Strikers on Sunday.
