Liam Livingstone, Perth Scorchers advance to BBL finals
The Scorchers recovered from a poor start to finish second in the table
Liam Livingstone and the Perth Scorchers will play Sydney Sixers for a spot in the Big Bash final after finishing second in the table in Australia's premier T20 competition.
Despite losing their final match against Brisbane Heat today (26 January), the Scorchers had already qualified following a staggering run of eight wins from their nine previous fixtures.
They remained in top spot but were overtaken by the title-defending Sixers, who gained the 'Bash Boost' point against Melbourne Stars to return to the summit of the ladder.
That point eliminated Glenn Maxwell's Stars, who required all four points available from the match to qualify inside the top five.
The Sixers and second-placed Scorchers now face off on Saturday for a place in the final, with the loser getting a second opportunity to reach the showcase against either Brisbane Heat, Adelaide Strikers or Sydney Thunder.
Lancashire all-rounder Livingstone has continued to be a central part of the Scorchers outfit after successive fifties last week.
He has added a further 99 runs in four matches as well as three wickets, including that of big-hitter Chris Lynn in their defeat against the Heat today.
