Livingstone fires Scorchers to victory
Scoring his third half-century of this year's Big Bash, Liam Livingstone lit up Optus Stadium against Sydney Thunder
A blistering knock of 78 off just 49 balls from Liam Livingstone helped Perth Scorchers record an important Big Bash victory over Sydney Thunder at Optus Stadium today (Monday 20 January).
The right-hander was at his belligerent best, striking four maximums en route to his highest score of the competition so far.
He added a further six boundaries, four of which came in the third over of the innings, to hand the Scorchers an important two points, chasing down 154 with more than four overs to spare.
In what is fast become a tight race for play-off places, it was a welcome net-run-rate boost following successive defeats.
Livingstone and fellow opener Josh Inglis hit yet another century stand, their third of the tournament, and almost sealed a ten-wicket win before Inglis fell with the score on 136.
Inglis dominated much of the early scoring either side of the third over before Livingstone got going with a six into the sightscreen, following up with consecutive maximums to reach his fifty off 28 balls.
The Scorchers' final home game is against Adelaide Strikers on Friday before the reverse fixture against the Thunder finishes off their League campaign on Sunday.
