Mahmood handed IT20 call-up
The seamer will replace Jofra Archer in the squad for the three-match series against South Africa
Saqib Mahmood has replaced Jofra Archer in England's IT20 squad for the series against South Africa after the withdrawal of Jofra Archer.
Mahmood, who is also due to feature in the preceding One-Day International series, will stay on for the three-match series, which starts on 12 February and finishes at Centurion on 16 February.
The 22-year-old will hope to add to his three IT20 caps picked up during the series win over New Zealand late last year.
He is joined in the IT20 squad by fellow Red Rose men Jos Buttler and Matt Parkinson, who were both named in the initial squad.
Archer has been ruled out after sustaining soreness in his right elbow which forced him out of contention for the final three Tests of the series win against the Proteas.
It is a double dose of positive news for Mahmood after it was announced earlier today he is the recipient of an England Pace Bowling Development Contract.
