Matt Parkinson hails never-say-die team spirit
The spinner took 3/9 and praised the character and skill shown to defend 140 to down Sussex Sharks at Hove
Lancashire Lightning spinner Matt Parkinson says his side are best with their backs against the wall after reaching Vitality Blast Finals Day.
On a ground where 180 is typically a par score for the team batting first, the Lightning were able to defend 140/8 by bowling the hosts out for 95, the seventh lowest T20 score ever against the Red Rose.
Parkinson was instrumental, taking 3 wickets in 4 balls en route to figures of 3/9, part of a spin trio which tied the Sussex batsmen down after a fine powerplay from the quick bowlers.
And the 23-year-old says his side are best when they look to be on the back foot, saying: "When we get poked, we don't like it!"
