Pre-season continues with second Essex friendly
Read the report from Day One (game two) against Essex
Josh Bohannon and Alex Davies were Lancashire's standout performers on Day One of the second pre-season friendly against Essex.
On a bright morning at Chelmsford, it was determined at the start of play that the home side would bat the first 60 overs of the day - with the roles then reversing for the final session.
Bohannon and Keaton Jennings took a wicket apiece in the morning, both trapping the opening pair of Varun Chopra (26) and Nick Browne (24) LBW respectively.
The afternoon brought about three wickets - including superb work from Rob Jones to run out Ryan ten Doeschate for a duck - with Tom Hartley (1/21) bowling England's new man Dan Lawrence for 34.
Bohannon then removed the returning ten Doeschate, in his second knock, to finish with figures of two for 14, as Essex declared at tea on 170 for the loss of five wickets.
The evening session - played in difficult conditions under the lights - saw Davies (38) and Jennings (18) put on 57 for the first before three wickets fell for no score.
Young Essex quick Shane Snater ended the day with three for eight, as George Lavelle (0*) and Tom Bailey (9*) took Lancashire through to the close at 71-4.
Play is scheduled to resume tomorrow morning at 10:30am with the format of the day dependent on the weather.
