Saqib Mahmood shines on PSL debut
Mahmood announced himself on debut in Pakistan's T20 tournament with three wickets in two overs
The 23-year-old, who signed as a replacement for Liam Livingstone, helped reduce the Qalanders to 3/33 after five overs chasing 171 to win after three wickets in his first 11 balls.
He started by removing Pakistan international opener Fakhar Zaman with his very first ball of the competition, caught behind by Zaman's fellow top-order batsman Imam-ul-Haq.
Bangladesh star Tamim Iqbal was his second wicket, again edging behind, before opposing skipper Sohail Akhtar was caught by Wahab Riaz as Mahmood thrust his name into the spotlight.
It was not to be for Zalmi as veteran all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez shepherded his side to victory with an over to spare, scoring 74 not out from just 46 balls.
Red Rose skipper Vilas, who has not featured in either of Qalanders' matches so far, could have a winner's medal to his name tomorrow (Tuesday 17 November) as they take on Karachi Kings, coached by ex-Lancashire all-rounder Wasim Akram.
Qalanders beat Multan Sultans by 25 runs in the final eliminator yesterday, setting up a big showdown between Pakistan's biggest two franchises.
