Stephen Parry, Lancashire squad launch fundraising initiative
The Red Rose players have committed to supporting a different cause throughout the COVID-19 pandemic
Stephen Parry has launched a fundraising page as part of Lancashire’s player-led initiative to help charities in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
Each month during lockdown, the Red Rose players have pledged to support a cause close to the hearts of those inside the home changing room at Emirates Old Trafford.
And Spotlight Outreach are the charity chosen for June, a charity Parry is involved with in and around the Manchester area. Each month the Lancashire squad will select a different charity across the county.
Spotlight Outreach are a volunteer group who deliver food and clothes to the homeless in Manchester and Tameside, and have seen an increase in requests for support during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Parry, a proud Mancunian, is a close supporter of the charity and is helping the charity deliver supplies to the community in addition to fundraising alongside his Lancashire team mates.
“I’m a huge supporter of the Spotlight Outreach group and know first hand how effective the work they do is, led brilliantly by Lisa and Dave,” the left-arm spinner said.
“The current situation has put a great strain on the excellent work they do and this is our small way of trying to help them continue to deliver it.
“All of the money we raise will go towards vital food and supplies, and I know every penny is hugely appreciated.”
