Vilas heading to Pakistan Super League
The Red Rose skipper is heading to Peshawar Zalmi as a replacement for West Indies' Lendl Simmons
Lancashire captain Dane Vilas will play in this year’s Pakistan Super League after signing with Lahore Qalanders.
The 34-year-old has penned a deal for the fifth edition of the tournament, which begins on Thursday 20 February in Lahore.
He joins Red Rose team mate Liam Livingstone in the PSL after he was picked up by Peshawar Zalmi in the draft following a fine first season with Karachi Kings.
Vilas enjoyed a stellar Vitality Blast campaign for Lancashire Lightning and also captained Durban Heat in South Africa’s Mzansi Super League earlier this winter.
The pair are set to come up against each other on 28 February in Rawalpindi, with the return fixture set for 10 March.
For the first time, the entirety of the tournament will be played in Pakistan after Test cricket returned to the country late last year.
Upon the completion of the tournament, Vilas will join back up with Lancashire’s squad for the pre-season tour, with details on the tour to be announced in due course.
