Angela Lowes appointed Chief Financial Officer of Lancashire Cricket
Lowes to join Lancashire Cricket as Club's new Chief Financial Officer in June
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the appointment of Angela Lowes, as the Club’s new Chief Financial Officer.
Lowes will join the Club from June 1, which will include a comprehensive induction and handover period, and will head up a restructured Finance Department from October 1 with Finance Director Lee Morgan then leaving his full-time position after 16 years of service to the Club.
Lowes is an experienced accountant with a vast knowledge of the sports industry following 20 years working at Sunderland Association Football Club.
She joined Sunderland as Financial Accountant in 2000 before becoming Finance Director in 2010, a role she carried out as an active Board member, in both the Premier League and English Football League, for over a decade.
In her earlier career, Lowes gained experienced working as a Management Accountant for Dewhirst Menswear in Sunderland and also as an Auditor at Ernst & Young, Newcastle.
Angela Lowes said: “I am thrilled to take this exciting opportunity to join such a major sporting institution with an iconic venue and special heritage.
“I have gained 20 years of invaluable experience working at the Stadium of Light and will bring with me the skills and expertise required to keep Lancashire Cricket moving forwards into a bright future.
“I look forward to working with CEO Daniel Gidney, the Executive Team and meeting everyone at Emirates Old Trafford this summer.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lee Morgan for his significant, long-term contribution to Lancashire Cricket during his time as Finance Director and wish him well in his continuing role as Club Secretary.”
Daniel Gidney, Chief Executive of Lancashire Cricket, added: “Angela has a proven track record in top level sport and emerged as the outstanding candidate to lead our finance team and support our growth agenda going forward.
“As Lancashire Cricket continues to navigate its way through the COVID-19 pandemic, it was hugely important to recruit somebody with Angela’s experience and knowledge of elite sports, hotels, events and concert hosting.
“Angela will join us at Emirates Old Trafford in June and I look forward to welcoming her into the Executive Team.”
As part of Angela’s appointment as Chief Financial Officer, the Club is also delighted to announce the promotion of Rhian King to the role of Group Financial Controller. Rhian will assume a number of duties held by previous Finance Director Lee Morgan and will work closely with Angela and the Executive team as the Club seeks to maximise its growth trajectory post Covid.
Claire Cash, who completed her ACCA exams in 2018, will also be given the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as part of the Finance team restructure continuing her professional development post-qualification.
