Day One of Second XI clash at Southport to be played behind closed doors
Lancashire Cricket can confirm that Day One (Monday) of this week’s Second XI Championship fixture Nottinghamshire at Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club will take place behind-closed-doors.
It follows on from one of Southport’s bar staff testing positive for COVID-19 in recent days, with a number of other staff now having to isolate as a result, as per Government guidelines. As a precaution, and to ensure the safety of all employees and spectators, the first day will be played behind-closed-doors, whilst an extensive and deep clean of the ground will take place over the next 24 hours.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause for ticket holders. Further clarity on whether supporters will be able to attend the remaining days of the fixture will be confirmed in due course.
