Durham on top in Second XI clash
Durham restricted Lancashire to 186-9 on Day One the Second XI clash at Southport and Birkdale CC.
Only 67 overs were managed as the game got underway after lunch at 1.30pm. Captain George Lavelle won the toss and elected to bat.
The Durham bowlers shared the wickets around, four bowlers picked up two wickets each - with George Drissell taking 2-26, Josh Campbell (2-29), Alfie Taylor-Clarke (2-35) and Matt Salisbury (2-49).
It was Campbell who made the first breakthrough removing Subhuan Mahmood (0) without scoring in the second over. Ben Walkden and George Lavelle then added a 52 partnership for the second wicket before Lavelle (25) fell to Taylor Clarke.
With the score on 54-2 regular wickets continued to fall as JJ Fielding (5), Arav Shetty (4), Harry Singh (0) and eventually opener Walkden (39) leaving the Red Rose 99-6.
An unbeaten 42 from Kurtis Watson who will resume on Day Two - alongside 24 from Luke Young - saw Lancashire reach 186-9 at close.
