Ecclestone relishing Test chance
Sophie Ecclestone is relishing the prospect of her third Test appearance for England when they host India at Bristol, starting this Wednesday (16 June)
The left-arm spinner has been selected in England’s 17 strong squad for the one-off four-day fixture, starting next Wednesday.
She joins fellow Thunder star Kate Cross in the squad.
While seamer Cross has not played a Test Match since 2015, 22-year-old Ecclestone has played the last two against Australia at home and away in 2017 and 2019, taking six wickets.
She is yet to taste victory, with both being draws.
"I’m really excited to play another Test Match,” said Chester-born Ecclestone.
“I think it's going to be a really special occasion for women's cricket, and I can't wait to join the squad and get my whites back on. I think we're all excited to get out there and play India.
"All you have to do is do the basics for longer. I think we know what we've got to do, and hopefully we can pull it off.
"It's especially exciting to play in a Test Match as a spinner.
“I'll be one of those bowlers who likes to bowl 30 overs in a day, and I think if it goes to day four I'll be very happy to bowl on that pitch. I'm excited about the challenge."
