Hurt and Hartley shine for Second XI on Day Three
Liam Hurt and Tom Hartley shone with the ball meaning Lancashire Second XI will go into the last day requiring 143 to win with ten wickets to spare against Yorkshire.
Hurt picked up for 4-52 and Hartley 3-28 while Jake Blatherwick took 2-11 as Yorkshire were bowled out for 105 in just 40.2 overs.
Jack Morley (6*) and Ben Walkden (0*) will resume Lancashire’s chase in the morning as they closed on 8-0.
Beginning the day on 208-3, Walkden failed to add to his overnight score of 80 as he was bowled by Cliff. JJ Fielding who started the day on 40 not out passed his half century until he was leg before to Jack Shutt for 66.
Contributions down the order from Blatherwick (37), Harry Singh (17*) and Jack Morley (16) saw Lancashire post 331. Dominic Leech took 3-57 and Shutt 3-62.
Taking a lead of 45 into the second innings only four Yorkshire batsman passed double figures with Ben Birkhead top scoring with 26. Hurt and Blatherwick dominated with the new ball then the introduction of the left arm spin twins Hartley and Morley finished the tall off.
That set Lancashire a chase of 151 for victory at Chester Broughton Hall CC.
