Lancashire Women see off Ireland at Emirates Old Trafford
Lancashire Women completed a 54-run victory over Ireland at Emirates Old Trafford in the match before Lancashire Lightning's Vitality Blast clash with Worcestershire Rapids
Captain Alex Hartley won the toss and elected to bat. Emma Lamb and Georgie Boyce got Lancashire off to a great start in the powerplay scoring 48 with the loss of no wicket.
They reached their 100 partnerships in the 11th over before Georgina Dempsey removed Emma Lamb for 79. In form Lamb's innings came off 46 balls containing 10 fours and a six.
Boyce (55) shortly followed Lamb, just after passing her half century which came off 40 balls. But the Ireland bowlers impressed in the last eight overs restricting Lancashire to 36 runs picking up 5 wickets with Lancashire posting 156-5. Orla Prendergest picking up 3-31 and Laura Delany only going for 13 from her four overs.
Laura Jackson then took 4-15 and Alex Hartley 2-19 as Lancashire bowled Ireland out for 102. Ireland captain Delany top scored with 27 while openers Rebecca Stokell added 18 and Gaby Lewis 13.
With Sophia Turner (2-19) taking the last wicket to wrap up victory.
