Lancs and Northants frustrated by rain
A day that started late and finished early eventually comprised just 11 overs and two balls in-between further stoppages of play as rain continued to wreck this LV= Insurance County Championship fixture.
Play finally started at 2.30pm after a big mopping up operation by the groundstaff at Northampton and this game has really proved to be a pretty miserable one for the spectators who have seen little cricket over the three days so far.
Lancashire advanced their score of 59-0 from Thursday evening on to 75-1 during the time available as the two teams attempt to garner bonus points from what will be an inevitable draw tomorrow.
Keaton Jennings and Alex Davies had to play carefully on the resumption-ironically in bright sunshine-with Ben Sanderson and Gareth Berg finding some bounce and movement to beat the bat.
It was some extra bounce that probably surprised Jennings when he nicked a drive off Berg to wicketkeeper Adam Rossington in the fifth over of the session to depart for 27.
Davies played a savage square cut off Sanderson for what turned out to be the only four of the day just before rain returned after seven overs had been completed.
The players returned briefly to add a further eight runs before a heavy downpour with some hailstones brought an early end at 4.15pm with Alex Davies unbeaten on 40 and Luke Wells yet to score.
