Lancs top the table after drawn game at Northants
The weather had the final say once again at Northampton with this match abandoned as a draw at 2.20pm after one final downpour ended play after just 6.2 overs were possible today, with only 34.3 overs bowled over the entire four days.
Both teams take 8 points from the game and the result means Lancashire are back on top of the Group 3 table after six games on 101 points, three ahead of Roses rivals Yorkshire who we play on Thursday at Emirates Old Trafford.
In fact play did not start on this fourth day until 1.30pm due to a very wet outfield that has been saturated a number of times during the last week.
The Northants groundstaff have worked hard to combat the weather during this match and their efforts looked to have been rewarded after a favourable umpires inspection at lunch.
In the time the players were out at the crease, Alex Davies completed his fourth half-century of the season when hitting his sixth boundary from a cover drive off Gareth Berg before play was ended three balls later.
Davies seems to like playing Northants; he has now scored one century and four half centuries against them with his last five innings against today’s hosts comprising: 147, 53, 57, 36 & 51*.
Luke Wells struck a nicely timed drive off Ben Sanderson to be 7 not out with Lancashire 88-1 when the game was abandoned.
