Lavelle and Hartley star for Second XI
Lost time forces draw in Second XI clash at Worcester
George Lavelle's 113 and Tom Hartley's match figures of 8/99 were the highlights from Lancashire's draw with Worcestershire in the Second XI Championship this week.
In a rain affected game, Lancashire reached 418-8 dec in the morning session of the final day, in response to the home side's 480-9, before an inspired second innings spell from Hartley (4/27) reduced Worcestershire from 28-1 to 53-5.
At that point, the Red Rose were pushing for an unlikely victory and their hopes were raised further when Jack Morley (1/33) struck with the score 66-6, the hosts ahead by 128 with just over a session remaining.
However a stubborn stand between George Drissell (25*) and Josh Tongue (11*) blunted any hopes of a Lancashire win and the two teams shook hands in the final session with the score 93-6.
