Welcome to the live blog for Day Two of Lancashire's LV= Insurance County Championship match at home to Glamorgan.

That's the close as Alex Davies and Keaton Jennings battle through to stumps with Lancashire behind by 322 runs as we reach the end of a hard-fought day.

There are further five overs for Keaton Jennings and Alex Davies to negotiate tonight as Glamorgan rotate their attack in the hunt for a breakthrough.

Michael Neser has started with four maiden overs as Lancashire reach 7-0 in reply to Glamorgan's 344. There are 10 overs to be bowled today

Michael Neser and David Lloyd have started with a tight line and length to Keaton Jennings and Alex Davies as Lancashire start their reply. Jennings has just had to boot the ball away from his stumps after playing Neser defensively with the ball threatening to spin back onto the wickets.

Some big hitting by Timm van der Gugten with two sixes in his 23 off 25 balls is ended when he holes out to Luke Wood 
at mid-on off Saqib Mahmood attempting to get the visitors to another batting point.

Pleased to report Saqib Mahmood seems fine and his day has just improved with the wicket of Callum Taylor for a hard-fought 58.

Matt Parkinson picks up his first wicket of the innings when Michael Neser tries to work the ball to leg but gets a leading edge that is caught by Keaton Jennings at short cover, and he departs for 17.

Saqib Mahmood returns for his first bowl since limping off.

Overseas all-rounder Michael Neser opens his Glamorgan account with a pulled four as we get the evening session under way and then cuts away for four more. 

4.00pm, TEA Day 2, 93.1 overs

Jimmy Anderson strikes on the stroke of tea, his third wicket that of Dan Douthwaite lbw for 61 after the Glamorgan all-rounder had played really well in adding 81 runs for the seventh wicket. That's Jimmy's 992nd first-class wicket if you are counting!

Dan Douthwaite pulls a short delivery from Luke Wood over backward square leg for six and then punches a boundary through mid-off in reaching his half century from 95 balls in a partnership now worth 72 runs.

3.30pm, 87.0 overs
Glamorgan 245-6, Taylor 33* Douthwaite 36*
Lancashire took the new ball after 85 overs with James Anderson and Luke Wood returning to the attack. Saqib Mahmood has returned to the field a few overs ago after limping off earlier.

This has been a good partnership between Callum Taylor and Dan Douthwaite who have added 55 so far for the seventh wicket.

Taylor and Douthwaite have added 41 runs for the seventh wicket so far and Matt Parkinson continues despite the new ball being available.

2.50pm, 74.0 overs
Glamorgan 217-6, Taylor 24* Douthwaite 17*
Dan Douthwaite batting with a bit of intent and putting bat to ball when he can as Glamorgan gain a batting point.

Liam Livingstone replaces Matt Parkinson with the new ball six overs away.

Glamorgan 191-6, Taylor 16* Douthwaite 1*
Brought on to complete Saqib Mahmood’s uncompleted over Josh Bohannon strikes with his third ball, Chris Cooke steering a back foot drive straight to Liam Livingstone at gully for 33 and Lancashire now have a second bowling point.

Having made a breakthrough Bohannon continues from the Brian Statham end.

We have spin for the first time with Matt Parkinson joining the attack from the James Anderson end.

Glamorgan making steady progress since lunch but Saqib Mahmood having produced a couple of cracking deliveries to Callum Taylor has now pulled up at the start of his run up and requires a bit of attention from physio Sam Byrne. Mahmood goes off with Josh Bohannon completing this over.

1.45pm, 57.0 overs
Glamorgan 165-5, C.Cooke 24* Taylor 4*
Danny Lamb and Saqib Mahmood start this afternoon session with the ball, Mahmood getting his first bowl of the day after Luke Wood bowled throughout the stop-start morning, producing a fine spell from the Brian Statham end.

One over was lost from that last stoppage and there are 73 overs left today.

Further rain has brought the lunch interval forward.

Luke Wood is finally rewarded for a fine spell when Kiran Carlson fends off a short ball that flies to Jimmy Anderson at third slip for 18.

Callum Taylor nearly follows to a similar delivery from the next ball but the ball lands just in front of Josh Bohannon running in and diving from point.  

12.15pm, 46.1 overs

And we are back! Play resumes in bright sunshine and we have 55 minutes to go before lunch at 1.10pm. Luke Wood resumes after bowling just one ball of his 13th over before the rain delay, Chris Cooke facing.

Good news - play will restart at 12.15pm with 12 overs lost from today's allocation.

Luke Wood bowls one ball of 47th over and rain stops play. It's a pretty sharp shower too. 

11.20am, 44.0 overs
Glamorgan 131-4, Carlson 8* C.Cooke 6*
Twenty minutes into the day and Jimmy Anderson has already struck to claim his second wicket bowling round the wicket and getting Billy Root trapped on the back foot and lbw for 11.

Two overs later Chris Cooke edges Anderson to slip but the catch, low down, doesn’t stick.

The first over of the day is in progress from the James Anderson end with James Anderson bowling to Billy Root who plays forward defensively to the first four deliveries.


Good morning from a dry and bright Emirates Old Trafford.

There are a number of clouds around the ground but it looks like we will get the second day of our LV= Insurance County Championship match with Glamorgan under way at 11am.

With 57 overs lost yesterday we are making up a few of them today as there are a minimum of 104 overs to be bowled. Lunch will be at 1.10pm and tea 3.40pm with the close scheduled for 6.30pm.
