Welcome to Day Two of Lancashire's latest LV=County Championship clash against Kent at Emirates Old Trafford.

7.17pm, CLOSE Day 2
Lancashire 108-5, Jones 7* Croft 8*, lead by 34 runs.
A memorable day comes to a close and we will have our match report and reaction to James Anderson's feats today in our match report shortly.

6.43pm, 30.0 overs
Lancashire 95-5, Jones 0* Croft 4*, lead by 21 runs.
The twists and turns keep coming! 
Lancashire have lost two more wickets; Dane Vilas edging Darren Stevens to second slip for 8 and Kent debutant James Logan gets a wicket in his first over bowling Josh Bohannon for 14.

Lancashire lead by 21 runs and there are still 10 overs left today.

6.20pm, 24.0 overs
Lancashire 87-3, Bohannon 11* Vilas 8*, lead by 13 runs.
Josh Bohannon and Dane Vilas have steadied matters during the last hour, taking Lancashire ahead. We have 16 overs left and with the floodlights on could easily be playing past 7pm.  

5.50pm, 18.0 overs
Lancashire 71-3, Bohannon 0* Vilas 4*, trail by 3 runs.
Two more wickets have fallen making it three wickets for 3 runs inside 3 overs.

Keaton Jennings edged Quinn to second slip for 4 and Luke Wood top edged a pull off Matt Milnes to James Logan at square leg for 3.

We still have 22 overs to go today.

5.30pm, 14.0 overs
Lancashire 65-1, Jennings 14* Wells 1*, trail by 9 runs.
Lancashire are quickly closing in on the Kent total but have lost Alex Davies for 47 after he edges a cut to Jordan Cox at first slip off Matt Quinn.

5.00pm, 8.0 overs
Lancashire 35-0, Jennings 10* Davies 22*, trail by 39 runs.
Lancashire have made a positive start to their innings reaching 35-0 with Alex Davies thumping a six in the first over.

4.09pm, 26.2 overs
An unforgettable session comes to an end with Kent all out for 74.

James Anderson gets a standing ovation after taking 7-19, his best Lancashire figures and reaching 1,000 first-class wickets in the process.

Danny Lamb finished with 3-16 after taking the final, Logan edging behind for 11.

 4.00pm, 25.0 overs
Kent 1st innings 63-9, Logan 10*Quinn 4*
Tea was set for 4pm but we continue with nine wickets down.

The 8th wicket to fall was Darren Stevens who was hitting out as he started to run out of partners, but found Alex Davies at long-off from the bowling of Danny Lamb for 19.

3.45pm, 22.0 overs
Kent 1st innings 51-8, Stevens 19* Logan 2*
James Anderson earns the ultimate well-earned rest after completing 10 overs from the James Anderson End with figures of 10-5-19-7. Tea is 15 minutes away. 

3.25pm, 16.5 overs
Kent 1st innings 35-7, Stevens 10* Logan 0*
A seventh wicket for James Anderson on this incredible day. Harry Podmore edges behind and Jimmy now has 7-10.

3.05pm, 14.0 overs
Kent 1st innings 29-7, Podmore 1* Stevens 8*
A day no-one present at Emirates old Trafford will forget.

James Anderson has taken his 1,000th first-class wicket and has figures of 5-3 during the first hour of play.

He’s just received a standing ovation after Heino Kuhn edged behind to become wicket number 1000.

Wicket 999 just before was Jack Leaning who edged to Rob Jones at slip.

And immediately after that Danny Lamb trapped Joe Denly lbw for 12.

Anderson has just struck again and has 6-3, Milnes edging behind. Astonising.

2.35pm, 8.0 overs
Kent 1st innings 15-3, Denly 10* Leaning 0*
James Anderson has had a dream start to this match with three wickets in his first three overs to move on to 998 first-class wickets.

Zak Crawley edged a swinging delivery to Rob Jones who took a smart catch low down at second slip; Jordan Cox edged an identical delivery to Luke Wells at first slip and Ollie Robinson edged to wicketkeeper Dane Vilas to leave Kent 5-3.

Joe Denly and Jack Leaning have moved the score on to 15-3 but we are all on ‘Jimmy watch’ as the England ace gets closer to the 1,000 wicket landmark.

What a start!  

With two games to go, the race for the top two places in Group 3 and a place in the Division One playoffs of the LV= Insurance County Championship is hotting up.

Lancashire (126 points) and Yorkshire (122) occupy the top two spots with Northants in 3rd place on 110 points and Glamorgan on 99.

Northants are at home against Yorkshire this week while Glamorgan travel to Hove to face Sussex.

TOSS: Kent have won the toss and will bat

Lancashire: Jennings, Davies, Wells, Bohannon, Jones, Vilas (capt/wk), Croft, Wood, Lamb, Anderson, Parkinson.

Tom Bailey is absent after suffering a back spasm. Saqib Mahmood has recently returned after injury and is being eased back into action and misses this game.

Kent: Crawley, Cox, Denly (capt), Robinson (wk), Kuhn, Leaning, Stevens, Logan, Milnes, Podmore, Quinn.  

Much better news! 
 Play will start at 2pm and consist of 67 overs with tea at 4pm & close 6.30pm. The toss will take place at 1.30pm.

The umpires will make an inspection immediately after lunch at 1.10pm.

Just before the inspection was due, further rain arrived and we will now be having an early lunch at 12.30pm.

The covers are back in place unfortunately after further rain this morning.

The groundstaff had taken the covers off earlier are were mopping up before the rain returned.

The rain has now stopped and the umpires are currently assessing conditions. They will make a further inspection at 11.30am.
